A19, for Anas the bypass hypothesis is impracticable. Schifani: "Poor collaboration"

A deep irritation for the uncooperative attitude that Anas continues to have in resolving the serious inconveniences caused by the construction sites along the A19 motorway, in particular in the stretch near Bagheria, is expressed by the President of the Sicilian Region, Renato Schifani.
Yesterday evening, in fact, after everyone had agreed on the bypass solution during the meeting of the Operational Road Committee held at the Prefecture in Palermo, during the subsequent inspection, together with the Highway Police, Anas assessed the hypothesis as not particularly useful and defined some solutions as not feasible or not implementable for technical reasons. At the end, it emerged that the only alternative remains that of diverting, in case of necessity (queues of over 7 km or in emergency situations) traffic onto the Strada statale 113.
"It is paradoxical that, despite these issues having been discussed for weeks - says President Schifani - Anas has not taken the slightest care to verify in advance the possibility of realizing the bypass hypothesis put forward during the meeting. We therefore ask the company for an immediate change of pace. Responsibility, vision and the ability to adapt are needed. For those of us who are committed every day to combating emergencies, it is not possible to think that the regional leaders of Anas are on vacation delegating management to third lines. The Region will make its voice heard in all venues, including at ministerial level, advancing the request for the removal of the head of Anas Sicily who continues to demonstrate little sense of institutional collaboration towards the role of the commissioner and towards the Sicilians. In recent weeks, in fact, users are facing inconvenience and long queues due to poor planning of the works by the company, which has started two adjacent construction sites right on the outskirts of Palermo, and what's more in a period of particularly intense traffic like the summer. Failure to activate the bypass risks further worsening an already critical situation in anticipation of the return traffic tomorrow afternoon."
«Even in yesterday's incident – concludes Schifani – Anas didn't even bother to inform me in advance about the outcome of the inspections».
